FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hamilton City School District has partnered with Primary Health Solutions for the area's second school based program with fully integrated care

Hamilton, OH - Primary Health Solutions, a Butler County based organization that operates Federally Qualified Health Centers, has partnered with the Hamilton City School District, OneSight, Interact for Health, and Butler Behavioral Health Services to provide access to primary medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health services to students, their family members, and school district staff.

The dedication of the center, located at Garfield Middle School - 250 N. Fair Avenue, will mark the conclusion of the planning phase of the project which began in December of 2014 with a grant from Interact for Health. Center leadership, state and local officials, partner organization representatives, and community leaders will gather to celebrate the launch of the operational phase. The Dedication and Open House will take place on Thursday, March 24th - 5-7 p.m.

The center will improve access to care for all children within the district, regardless of their insurance carrier or lack of insurance.  Center staff will be available to assist families with insurance enrollment, if uninsured. Services will not be provided without parental consent.

School-based healthcare can serve students differently, based on need. Medical services include immunizations, sports/work/annual physicals, asthma, or other chronic disease management and acute care for sick or injured students. Mental health services will be based on unique client need. Vision services will include comprehensive eye examinations and the prescribing and dispensing of glasses if necessary. Dental services, provided by the PHS Mobile Dental Unit, will include preventative exams, cleanings, x-rays and corrective treatment as needed.

The purpose of the center is to keep students in school and ready to learn. Students will receive care during the school day, without requiring the parents to leave work and lose wages.

The providers will begin seeing patients on Monday, April 4th, when the students return from Spring Break.
