School Based Health Centers

School Based Health Centers

From the beginning, one primary goal we have focused on is providing healthcare services to students and their families throughout Butler County. Bringing fully integrated school-based health centers to the suburbs has been a relatively unheard of concept across the country until we; Primary Health Solutions took the lead.

In August of 2015, Primary Health Solutions began a partnership with the Fairfield City School and Hamilton City School districts launching two school-based health centers open to the public.

For the first time, a suburban school district supported a center with access to vision, medical, nutritional, behavioral health, and fully equipped dental services all in one place. The Fairfield school-based health center is noted as the first suburban school-based health center in the nation bringing a new form of access to care.

While Fairfield’s location is 211 Donald Drive Suite B sitting on Fairfield City Schools' campus, Hamilton’s center is found in Garfield Middle School at 250 N. Fair Ave. One unique feature is school transportation is available to transport students to appointments during the school day with parent consent as an immense convenience for working families in the area.

In addition, our Mobile Dental Unit is available to bring dental services to our Hamilton City School location along with surrounding school districts such as Lakota and Talawanda.

Since both district openings, our centers have had over 7,000 encounters of students, local families, and community members. Among the 7,000, we’re thrilled to show the following breakdown of our services as of 2017 data:

  • Over 3,440 medical visits
  • Over 1,060 behavioral service encounters
  • Over 1,070 dental appointments
  • Over 1,045 vision exams dispensing 650+ pairs of glasses

The school-based health centers improve access to care for all children with their districts, regardless of their insurance carrier or lack thereof. We do provide sliding-scale rates based on income. Center’s staff is available to assist families with insurance enrollment, if uninsured.

In December of 2018, Primary Health Solutions opened another school-based health center in partnership with the Middletown City School district.  This health center is located in Middletown High School at 601 N Breiel Blvd Suite B.

School-based healthcare can serve students differently, based on need. Statistics show that teens are least likely to get the recommended health services. Medical services include immunizations, sports/work/annual physicals, asthma or other chronic disease management and acute care for sick or injured students.

Medical Health services are based on unique client need. Vision Services include comprehensive eye examinations and prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses if necessary. Dental services include preventative exams, cleanings, X-rays, and corrective treatment as needed. Nutritionists are found onsite to address dietary needs and dietary deficiencies.

Our Parental Consent Form can be located here. Please note services will not be provided without parental consent.
